8-Hour Fall Prevention

Purpose: This course is an elective course that can help fulfill the requirement for an individual applying for a Site Safety Training Card. THIS IS AN AWARENESS-LEVEL TRAINING ONLY and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.

Duration: 8 Hours of instructional time, excluding lunch and breaks

NYC Requirement: In order to continue to operate in the City of New York, the designated construction worker is required to complete a minimum number of hours of approved site safety training and to carry site safety identification cards as proof of completion of the training (As per New York City Local Law 196 of 2017 also known as ‘LL196’ or ‘Local Law’). This course provides eight hours towards the satisfaction of that requirement.


Course Content Outline:

Introduction / Fatal falls as the most common cause of death in construction / Illustrated cases of falls in New York City / Competent Person’s Responsibilities / 3 types of Fall Hazards / Nature of gravity and how weight is relative and depends (is a product of) on acceleration of and mass. / Detail ob the Components, Specifications and Regulatory Requirements of fall controls /Stuck-by and fall-to-the-same level controls / detail the Components, Specifications and Regulatory Requirements, including New York City Chapter 33, Section 3315.1, with trainee interactions (calculations, tabletop scenarios, decision-tree) the different types of fall protections systems. / Components of a prompt rescue plan / Exercise: calculation fall distances / Create and review a 20-point checklist and illustratively provide comparative examples for each point on the fall protection checklist.

2-Hour Drug and Alcohol Awareness

Purpose: This course is an elective course that can help fulfill the requirement for an individual applying for a Site Safety Training Card. THIS IS AN AWARENESS-LEVEL TRAINING ONLY and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.

Duration: 2 Hours of instructional time, excluding breaks

COURSES OVERVIEW

This course is designed for foreman, journeyman, managers, employers, and safety professionals. This 8-hour course covers article 90 Introduction and Chapter 1 Safety-Related Work Practices. Couse topics include definitions, qualified person, general requirements, risk assessment, job planning, training requirements, Lockout/Tagout, establishing an electrically safe work condition, PPE, OSHA citation example and review of the 2018 standard. Upon course completion students will have the ability to provide a practical safe working area for employees relative to the hazards arising from the use of electricity. Students will receive a copy of the 2018 NFPA, Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. There are no prerequisites for this class, however it will be assumed the student has basic knowledge of electrical construction and basic safety principals. This course does not include CPR and first aid.

8-Hour NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace

4-Hour NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace

This course is designed as an awareness level course for journeyman, apprentice “helpers”, managers, employers and any construction administrative personnel with electrical safety program responsibilities. This course can also be a refresher to personnel with prior familiarization with the 70E standard. This 4-hour course covers article 90 Introduction and Chapter 1 Safety-Related Work Practices. Couse topics include definitions, qualified person, general requirements, risk assessment, job planning, training requirements, Lockout/Tagout, establishing an electrically safe work condition, PPE, OSHA citation example and review of the Ugly’s Electrical Safety and NFPA 70E, 2018 Edition. Upon course completion students will have the ability recognize and advoid electricity safety hazards in the workplace. Students will receive a copy of in Ugly’s Electrical Safety and NFPA 70E, 2018 Edition. There are no prerequisites for this class, however it will be assumed the student has basic knowledge of electrical construction and basic safety principals. This course does not include CPR and first aid.

OSHA 7600 15-hour Disaster Site Worker

Prerequisite Requirement: Completion of the 10 or 30-hour OSHA outreach class

Course Description

This two day (15-hour) OSHA authorized course, provides construction workers and managers working at natural or man-made disasters with the awareness and knowledge of safety and health hazards, CBRNE agents and safe work practices that may be associated with disaster site work. The National Incident Management System (NIMS), Personal Protective Equipment including specific respiratory protection requirements, the importance of decontamination and traumatic stress will be addressed in detail. The course addresses the differences between disaster site work and regular construction or demolition tasks. The audience for this course is Disaster Site Workers who provide skilled support services and cleanup services at a disaster site. Electrical workers, excavation and civil contractors, crane and rigging contractors, HVAC and plumbing, carpenters, laborers, any trade personnel involved in emergency work and service calls, and management. The following topics will be covered: •Introduction/Overview •Incident Command System •Safety Hazards •Health Hazards •CBRNE Agents •Traumatic Incident Stress •Respiratory Protection •Other Personal Protective Equipment •Decontamination •Final Exercise •Prerequisite Requirement: Completion of the 10-Hour OSHA Construction or General Industry Outreach Training Course.

American Heart Association Bloodborne Pathogens

This 2-hour class course teaches employees how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials. This training is for non-medical personnel. It is important for you to know what bloodborne pathogens are and how to protect yourself and others form becoming infected through exposure. This course includes a 35-page workbook with an attached course completion card. This course is designed to meet the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for bloodborne pathogens training when paired with site-specific training.

CPR and First Aid Offerings

**Attention electrical contracting owners, managers, electricians, maintenance electrical workers and any employer that must comply with the NFPA70E 2018 article 110.2(c)(2)(a)(b)(c)(d) general requirements for electrical safety-related work practices, first aid, emergency response, and resuscitation. **

Adult/child/Infant and AED CPR – (Note: Does not include first aid) AHSI (American Health and Safety InstituteCPR and AED training course is designed specifically for laypeople, and is an excellent choice for CPR and defibrillator training in both community and workplace settings. This extremely flexible program will help prepare individuals to respond to sudden cardiac arrest and choking incidents. This 3.5 to 4-hour class provides both lecture and hands-on training using direct feedback manikins. Each student will receive a 64-page CPR and AED book, and course completion card/or certificate via-email. The certification length is 2 years. Students should wear comfortable clothing when attending the training.

OSHA 10 & 30-Hour Classes for the Construction Industry

OSHA Outreach program description The Outreach Training Program provides basic safety and health information and education it does not fulfill an employer's requirement to provide training under specific OSHA standards. The OSHA Outreach Training Program for the Construction Industry provides training for workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces in the construction industry. The program also provides information regarding workers' rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. It is important to note that this is a voluntary program and does not meet the training requirements for any OSHA standards. Although some states, municipalities or others may require outreach training as a condition of employment, it is not an OSHA requirement. None of the courses within the Outreach Training Program is considered a certification.The 10-hour class is intended to provide workers with awareness of common job-related safety and health hazards, while the 30-hour class is more appropriate for supervisors or workers with some safety responsibility.
